About
Students, for the most part, have no previous experience in yearbook production. They will have limited experience working under publication deadlines or with other students in cooperative effort. The expectation is to create a yearbook that will reflect the history of the school year with excitement, accuracy and fun. The standards for the writing, photography and design are high and will hallmark a book that reflects their best effort. The course will guide them through the labyrinth of task involved in what is a really major business project.

Long Range Goal and Objectives:

The class goal is to collectively produce an award-winning yearbook. In doing so, instruction will focus on reporting techniques, writing standards, design composition, desktop publishing, adherence to deadlines, photography, staff management, materials inventory, production planning, advertising sales and record keeping.

Grading Criteria
Your grade will be based on the following factors:
• Students will be graded on at least three pieces of writing per quarter.
• Students will be required to complete three design projects per quarter.
• Students will be assessed on their cooperative effort in producing their section, meeting deadlines, special productions projects, selling books and espirit de corps in creating an excellent product. Additionally, students will be quizzed on terminology at the onset of the course.
